The Golf Coach Income Calculator is a free Golf NXS tool that shows what you take home once no-shows and unpaid scheduling admin come out of your lesson rate. Nothing is saved and there is no sign-up.
Three levers, each moved by one modest step, ranked by what it would actually add for your numbers. The answer is different for every coach, which is why generic advice is usually wrong.
80 hours a year back.
Only turns into money if you have students waiting to fill the time. Otherwise it is hours back, which may be worth more.
Every lesson is worth $5 more, 600 times a year.
A single increase applied to new students first is the least disruptive way in.
From 8% down to 3% of bookings.
Reminders, a deposit, a written cancellation fee, or a call the day before all work.
Reclaimed admin time is shown as revenue only if you have students waiting to fill the hours. If you do not, treat it as 80 hours of your life back rather than income, which for a lot of coaches is the better trade anyway.
The reason most coaches never raise prices is the fear of losing students. It is worth knowing how many you could actually afford to lose.
At $85 a lesson you could lose 1.8 lessons a week and break even. Anything less than that and the increase leaves you ahead.
Pick the number you want to earn and see what each route to it actually demands. One lever at a time, everything else held still.
You are $48,600 short. Any one of these closes the gap on its own.
Most coaches get there with a combination rather than any single one of these, and a smaller move on all three is usually easier than a large move on one.
Two things sit between your lesson rate and your actual income, and neither shows up on an invoice.
No-shows are pure loss. The slot was reserved, you turned up, and nothing came in. You cannot refill an hour that expired an hour ago. At the numbers above that is $3,600 a year.
Admin is unpaid labour. Texting to find a time, confirming the day before, rebuilding the week when one lesson moves. You are working 200 hours a year that no student is paying for.
There is no single right lever. A coach losing 20% to no-shows should fix that before touching price. A coach losing 2% but spending fifteen hours a week on admin has a different problem entirely. Reminders, a deposit policy, a written cancellation fee, or simply calling people the day before all reduce no-shows, and any of them counts.
Shown in full so you can check it against your own books.
Lessons a year = lessons per week x weeks taughtBooked revenue = lessons a year x your rateLost to no-shows = booked revenue x no-show rateCollected = booked revenue - lostTotal hours = teaching hours + admin hoursReal hourly rate = collected / total hoursLessons you can lose = current lessons x raise / (rate + raise)No-shows are treated as earning nothing, which is the default for most independent coaches. If you enforce a cancellation fee, lower your no-show rate to reflect what you actually lose. Travel, range balls, facility splits, and tax are not included, so treat every figure as gross earnings before costs. The break-even figure assumes the students who leave are average ones, not your best or your worst.
We take the revenue you actually collect (bookings minus no-shows), then divide it by every hour the work costs you, which is teaching time plus the scheduling admin you do off the clock. Most rate-per-hour figures ignore the admin, which is why the number here is usually lower than the rate you quote students.
No. The calculator assumes a no-show earns you nothing, which is the default for most independent coaches. If you enforce a cancellation fee that recovers part of the value, set your no-show rate lower to reflect what you actually lose.
Anything that is not teaching and not practice: texting to find a time, confirming the day before, rescheduling, chasing a student who did not turn up, and rebuilding your week when one lesson moves. Coaches routinely underestimate this, so if you are unsure, track it for a week.
More than most coaches expect. Raising your rate means each remaining lesson is worth more, so you can teach fewer of them and stand still. The break-even figure on this page shows exactly how many lessons a week you could lose before a rate increase leaves you worse off.
No. The calculation runs entirely in your browser and nothing is sent to us. Your numbers are held in the page address only, which is what makes the share link work. Close the tab and they are gone.
Every number on this page came from an estimate you typed. That is fine for a snapshot, but the figures that matter here move every week, and almost no coach re-runs the math often enough to notice a trend.
That is the part Golf NXS keeps current for you. Because bookings, lessons, and notes already live in one place, the reporting is built on what actually happened rather than what you remember:
Included on every plan, from $30 a month.
Golf NXS is booking, student records, notes, and automatic reminders in one place, made for independent golf coaches. Reminders exist to shrink the no-show number above, self-serve booking exists to shrink the admin one, and the reporting exists so you never have to guess at either again.
